Charcoal business threatens deforestation in northern Somalia

November,22, 2012.In Somaliland, the semi-desert territory that self-proclaimed independence from Somali in 1991, for many people cutting trees is the only way to make a living.They cut the trees and burn them to make charcoal that can be sold. However, there is growing concern that the forest could soon turn into desert.
